"Mommy, I am too silly."
"You are not too silly."
"Yes I am. Look (proceeds to make a face sticking out his tongue)"
"Well, that is silly. But I like you silly. Your daddy and papa, and I are very silly too."
"Yeah, you are. (makes weird noises like booga da booga blah bleh boo)."
Today after nap:
"Mommy I'm straving."
"Get a gogurt."
10 minutes later.....
"I am still hungry.""I will make you a snack." I give him chips and a spinach artichoke dip....don't laugh the kid loves that stuff!
10 minutes later.....(trying to do grades for the semester)....
"Mommy, you want to watch my show with me? I will give you my chips.""Sure, I was going to grade papers while you were watching that."
"Can I have cereal?"
"No, you just had yougurt and chips and dip. You can wait till dinner."
"But I saved you my chips."
In the Store:
while music is playing:
"Look at this!" (proceeds to do some form of hip hop dancing.)"Wow, you are a great dancer."

Warm Moments
There are times that a child can just warm your heart. Monday was one of those times. I just came home from a haircut adventure with my mom and was sitting at my computer. Ethan gets up from nap and comes in. He looks at me and said "Mommy, I like your hair today. It looks beautiful." What better praise could a mom want? My son has the words of a poet and a heart of gold.

My Son's interest
As a mom and an educator I am constantly looking at my son to determine where his strengths are and where his interest lie. Children learn better when they are engaged. Engagement happens when they are interested in what they are doing. One way to assess your child or children you work with is to use Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences. Each intelligence is how a person interprets or learns in the world. There are nine, I usually use eight: body- kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, linguistic, logical-mathematical, naturalist, and spatial. Two others that Gardner is working on is Technological and Spiritual.

My son is definitely musical. Everyone has more than one intelligence that helps them process information. But usually, there is one dominant. I have just sat here for the last 30 minutes listening to him make up songs about anything and everything. Even the tunes are a creation of his. I have to just smile as I listen to him. Love it! Here is a sample of him reciting a poem, which is linguistic intelligence. So again he has more than one interest.

First leap into blog land
I held off for so long on getting a blog. But all my friends are doing it. So once again, I jump into the world of internet communication. Having a facebook, myspace, and an outdated website are not enough. I now have a blog. LOL
So I will begin by saying....the road I travel does not follow a straight path. I take side journeys, come full circle often, and always look back at the roads I did not take (though I try not too). Just like my son's race track.
Robert Frost says it best in his poem, The Road Not Taken.
May God continue to direct my paths and lead me along the road I should go.
